Giving presentation

7 Tips to do better at presentation.

Since you are reading this, it means you have done at least one presentation in your life and want to improve upon it. Presentations are very important these days as companies/teachers prefer them more than any other form of expression.

Presenting becomes influential and memorable because of the usage of both media and speech as well as other form factors.

As a student, job seeker, or even as an employee, you may encounter several moments where you were given the task to present on a topic. This may be about a product, a comparison between things, a market evaluation, or just as simple as a self-introductory giving.

Even though these topics vary a lot from each other, there are some key elements that make your presentation memorable and beautiful.

Here I will talk about some simple class presentation tips you can incorporate into your next presentation to make them more organized and amazing.

presentation tips to do better:

Proper Planning:

If you are giving a presentation alone, then the first thing you must do is plan every step of it, such as the information source, time span of your speech, where to start, how to conclude, etc. And if you are giving a group presentation, then first you need to have a group discussion on those topics.

Your speech:

The way you present yourself comprises 90% of your presentation. Your body language should be effortless. You can walk around while presenting in class, use humor in your speech, making proper use of your slides in accordance with your speech. Try to stay silent rather than using filler words (i.e., umm, err).

Maintain eye contact:

You must always maintain eye contact while giving a presentation. Make sure to look at your audience; this will keep them engaged and more attentive to what you have to say. If you are unable to maintain eye contact, then there’s a simple hack for it. Just alternately look at the corners of the room while speaking. This will make it seem like you are indeed keeping eye contact with the people who are far from you.

Your slides:

Making the proper slides for your presentation is necessary. You need to match the energy of your slides with your topic. For example, if you are presenting at juice stores near your locality, you can use colorful slides with friendly fonts (i.e., Calibri, Roboto, Open Sans). You can use more images and graphics. But if you are giving a presentation on business development in your country, then you need to be more simplistic and use sharper fonts (i.e., Times New Roman, Helvetica, Futura).

You can also use free templates from different websites and edit them as per your needs. Some of my favorite free template websites are:

And some useful free graphics websites are:

Make it interactive:

You want to make your presentations interactive in such a way that the audience feels that they are also included and that their opinions are valued. For this, you can ask questions mid-presentation, or even ask for feedback at the end of your presentation. You can make interactive slides where an answer can gracefully determine the next topic of your presentation. You can use different transitions and styles to make it feel more immersed.

Conclude with a good ending:

You want to end your presentation with a lasting and memorable ending. For that, you can end it with a humorous joke or by asking a counter-question. You can ask the audience for their feedback or any questions about the presentation, and at last, you can provide contact information to follow up with any other problems.

Make sure to improve every presentation:

At last, always remember that this isn’t your last presentation. Try to get proper feedback from your colleagues or teachers, find your shortcomings, and note them down. Remember to improve upon every aspect you find to not be enough. Your speech, preparation, slides, body language, conclusion – everything plays an important role in the overall quality of your presentation.
